The tree is 40 years old, standing 26 feet tall and over 5 feet wide. It came from B&T Trees in Newland, North Carolina, just outside Boone. This marks the fifth year we’ve purchased our Christmas tree from B&T Trees. Each January, we call to reserve a tree and then follow up in July to confirm our selection.
This year’s tree was freshly cut on Saturday, November 15. It was loaded onto a Grizzle Towing truck on Sunday, November 16, and delivered to Dahlonega Square on Monday, November 17. This schedule ensures the tree is at its best throughout the full six weeks of Old Fashioned Christmas.



After being placed in front of the Welcome Center, the tree was given three days for its branches to settle. On Thursday, November 20, a group of volunteers—led by Suzy Kelly of Bear Necessities Café—decorated the tree for the season.

We think this is the most beautiful tree ever! Can’t wait to “Light up the Square”.
When the tree is removed from the Square, on the 12th day of Christmas, it is placed in Lake Zwener to create fish habitats – the tree lives on……
